WHY YOU SHOULD TAKE YOUR APPLE CIDER VINEGAR AT NIGHT

Undoubtedly, you have seen them lists touting the amazing curative power of the apple cider vinegar for an amazing number of ills. “ACV” (as it is sometimes referred to in studies) was praised for its ability to balance your pH, increase the good gut bacteria, and help to control your weight, as well as many other beneficial things.

Here is the kicker: All those are true, and even more. One of the most sensational is the ability of ACV to balance the blood sugar. A study at the Arizona State University tested 11 volunteers with diabetes type 2 which was diagnosed by a doctor who weren’t taking insulin but they continued taking their prescription medications.

Every participant took 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar with a snack — 1 oz of cheese — before going to bed. The researchers demonstrated that in the morning, the subjects had lower blood sugar readings than when they had the same snack with two tablespoons of water.

This is very important and potentially life-changing news for half of the American population, because NBC News reports that half of the country suffers from either full-blown diabetes or high blood sugar.

That is a huge jump from the projection of 1 in 3 by 2050 which was made by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in 2010. What’s worse, half that number are unaware of how compromised is their health really.

That wasn’t an isolated fluke; the benefits of ACV were tested in numerous studies, according to CNN Health, for many different types of health problems.

More Studies Reveal: ACV Positively Impacts Blood Sugar Levels

A recent study showed that 3 groups — adults with pre-diabetes, diabetes type 2 and healthy people — after taking 1 oz of ACV, all had lower levels of blood glucose when they ate a high-carb meal which was consisted of a white bagel with butter and a glass of orange juice; once again, compared with a placebo rather than the cider vinegar.

However, there’s more: Those persons with pre-diabetes improved their blood glucose levels by nearly half, and the subjects with type 2 diabetes cut their blood glucose levels by an amazing 25 %.

Just as dramatic are the studies that involved ACV’s potential for controlling weight. The Journal of Agriculture and the Food Chemistry reported a study on mice that have been fed a high-fat diet along with the active ingredient in the apple cider vinegar: the acetic acid.

The animal subjects ended up with 10 % lower body weight than the control subjects.

Researchers assert that what this reveals is that acetic acid is able to “turn on” the trigger genes that initiate the enzymes’ ability to break down the fat, and that prevents weight gain. It also helps you to feel full.

A Japanese study  conducted a similar double-blind trial on obese adults, every with a similar body weight, body mass index (BMI) and waist measurement, and split the subjects into 3 groups.

For 12 weeks, the members of one group drank half an ounce of apple cider vinegar, one group had a beverage with 1 ounce of apple cider vinegar and the third group had a drink without apple cider vinegar. When the study finished, those who drank the cider vinegar had lower body weight and belly fat, lower triglycerides and smaller waist measurements compared to the others.

The scientists wrote: “In conclusion, regular intake of vinegar might be useful in the prevention of metabolic syndrome by reducing the obesity.”

Apple Cider Vinegar’s Effects on Cancer Cells, Immune Support

Another thing that apple cider vinegar provides is detoxification of the lymphatic system, which then helps to optimize the homeostatic function in the body. This could be as a result of the antioxidants in apple cider vinegar reducing oxidative damage by the free radicals, while improving both the blood and the organs.

The Truth About Cancer says:

“Apple cider vinegar was recently determined to be a very strong antimicrobial agent and alternative to toxic and expensive chemical disinfectants. One of the most fatal bacterium, Mycobacterium tuberculosis is resistant to the disinfectants but is found to be killed by the acetic acid.

Especially in those patients who are immunosuppressed, apple cider vinegar is an amazing natural antimicrobial tonic to rid of harmful bacteria and provide immune support.”

Several test tube studies have showed that vinegar is able to kill cancer cells. Authority Nutrition cites several studies; one study in particular in Japan used numerous types of fermented vinegars to induce apoptosis (programmed cell death) in the leukemia cells.

In another study, the malignant breast and colon tumors, as well as bladder, lung and prostate cancers, were all inhibited by using rice vinegar, but especially the cancerous colon tumors were inhibited by 62 %.

Vinegar Punch (or Drizzle) Recipes for Digestive Health and Sore Throat

In case you’ve had problems like colitis, ulcers or acid reflux (sometimes because of insufficient acid in your stomach), a double whammy of ACV with the added bonus of fermented vegetables has the potential to ease numerous types of stomach problems.

The mild acid in the fermentation is lactic acid rather than acetic acid, which helps improve your gut microbiome. The animal studies have proven very helpful when researchers wanted to test the apple cider vinegar on digestion. In a study, Health.com reports:

“Apple cider vinegar could also be a boon to digestive health, based on the results of a study that was done on mice with ulcerative colitis.

The researchers found that when the acetic acid was added to their drinking water, they had much higher levels of good bacteria in their guts, such as Lactobacillus and Bifidobacteria, and reduced the symptoms of the gastrointestinal disease.”

For everyday gut health, a mixture of two teaspoons of apple cider with a teaspoon of raw honey in one cup of warm water will help. Apple cider vinegar with ginger and honey for a sore throat is a very popular and effective remedy. Another mixture for sore throat, which is recommended by Bonnie K. McMillen, the nurse from the University of Pittsburgh, includes:

  • 2 tablespoons of water
  • 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon of  raw honey
  • ¼ of teaspoon ground ginger
  • Optional: ¼ teaspoon of cayenne pepper

With this recipe, tiny sips every couple of hours or so are recommended and slowly swallowing for your throat to get the maximum contact of the mixture. It really works! Rather than drinking apple cider straight, for other applications, dilute it in a few teaspoons (or one cup) of water to help mask the flavor, which admittedly is slightly stringent.

This is a simple and tasty recipe to serve over broccoli, asparagus or salad greens and it includes: 1 tablespoon each of ACV and lemon juice, half a teaspoon of minced garlic, a dash of ground black pepper and a few fresh basil leaves, chopped.

ACV for Beauty, Health and Some Other Things

Numerous people claim that drinking one tablespoon of ACV helps to get rid of hiccups by over-stimulating the nerve endings in order to eliminate hiccups from the system.

To reduce the inflammation and accelerate the healing process, you should soak a cloth in apple cider vinegar and put it directly onto the bruise.

Being highly acidic, this vinegar alters the pH levels to the better, just as in the case of dry skin and dandruff. As such, it is very beneficial for toning the skin, bug bites, acne, warts, burns, wounds, sunburn, Athlete` s foot, dandruff, poison ivy, and toenail fungus.

Ultimately, apple cider vinegar has a huge range of household uses, among which for cleaning and cooking. To clean the toothbrush for example, mix 2 tablespoons of ACV, 2 teaspoons of baking soda, and one-half cup of water. To increase the general flavor of your meals, you should add a tablespoon or two of vinegar to them.
